Every tattoo at Vanity Ink begins with a conversation at our Wheat Ridge studio, where we take your idea seriously and work out the rest with you. You'll walk out feeling listened to and sure of what comes next.

If you've saved images that capture the look you're after, bring them with you to your tattoo consultation. They help your artist see what you have in mind, and you can talk through what drew you to each one.

How booking your tattoo appointment works
1. Sit down for your consultation
At your tattoo consultation in our Wheat Ridge studio, we settle with you what the piece will be, where it goes, how large it should be and, if you left it open, which artist is right for it. The spot you choose shapes the whole design, because a tattoo has to follow the curves of your body and move with it.
2. Choose your date and put down a deposit
Before that same visit ends, you pick your appointment date and put down a deposit to hold it. We take both in person so that the plan, the date and the money have all been talked over with you before anything is set.
3. Your artist checks in
One to three days before your appointment, your artist gets in touch to confirm the idea is still the one you want. Your artist draws designs in order of appointment date, which is why yours isn't drawn until your day is close.
4. See your design that morning
Your artist sends you the design on the morning of your appointment, built on the idea you confirmed a few days earlier. If you'd like a small detail changed when you see it, tell your artist, and they'll make the change before your tattoo begins.
- Deposit Your tattoo deposit is $50 to $200, depending on the piece. It's paid at your consultation and is non-refundable.
- Where it goes Your deposit is applied to the final price of your tattoo, or to the last session when the work runs over several sessions.
- Rescheduling or cancelling Give us at least 24 hours' notice to reschedule or cancel, and your deposit moves to the new date.
- Emergencies Call or text us as soon as you can. We handle emergencies case by case, and your deposit can move to another date.
- No-shows If you miss your appointment without calling, you lose your deposit, and booking again takes a new one.
- Touch-ups Touch-ups are free within two months. Come in for yours as soon as your tattoo is fully healed.
- After two months Normal wear can make a touched-up spot look different from the rest. Exceptions are case by case, at your artist's discretion.
- Age and ID You need to be 18 or older, with a valid driver's license, passport or other photo ID that shows your name. We accept a birth certificate alongside photo ID.
- Under 18 A parent or legal guardian must be present, and you both bring ID. Legal guardians and emancipated minors also bring their paperwork. Call or text us with ID questions.
How to prepare for your tattoo
A long sitting goes more easily when your body is ready for it, and a little care before you arrive makes a real difference to how you feel in the chair.
- Eat a full meal before you come in, drink plenty of water, and bring a snack and a drink with you.
- Come in sober and not hungover, which means going easy the night before as well as on the day.
- Hold off if the skin on the area is sunburned or damaged, and wait to get tattooed until after a pregnancy.
- Wear something dark that makes the area easy to reach, like a tank for an upper arm or shorts for a calf. Ink rarely stains, but it can.
- If you have sensitive skin or a skin condition, check with your doctor first, and if a reaction worries you, stop by for a patch test.
- Bring one guest at most and leave the kids at home. Headphones or a tablet are welcome for the long stretches.
